Archeological Survey of a 11.5 mile, 166' - 225' wide corridor for the proposed natural gas pipeline upgrade and expansion

Client: C.T. Male and Associates, P.C.
Status: Phase IA Completed
Phase IB Completed
Cultural Resource Report submitted to and accepted by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Historic Preservation

The archeological surveys conducted for this project were to determine the presence of archeological resources within the boundaries of the proposed project area. The project area consisted of a single 11.5 mile corridor with an existing 50' right-of-way. The proposed upgrade would expand the right-of-way to varying widths ranging from 166' to 225' with 3.0 miles of existing pipeline with 7 access roads and a construction staging area.

The Phase IA investigation using pedestrian survey and photo-documentation determined 7.6 miles (66%) of the proposed project to have been previously disturbed or placed in areas with a slope of 15% or greater. The remaining 3.9 miles (34%) were surveyed using standard subsurface testing and identified no prehistoric or historic archeological resources.

Based on the results of the surveys it was recommended that the total project, including access roads and the staging area be cleared for cultural resources.
